"Crepuscula glacialis (var., Flos cuculi)"
by W.S. Merwin

I open before you
the time of the cuckoo
the vision of the dew
the white when the day is new
the brightness it passes through
the shadow it turns into
at the hour of the echo
from behind the mountain

This poem was written to title and accompany the painting in the book
Another Language of Flowers (New York: George Braziller 1998).
